I'm so excited, and yet, still... waiting....
It looks like September will definitely be the fulfillment month, as the shipment has to clear customs once it reaches Chicago (Not sure why it can travel across country before going through customs, but there it is!)
But to you, my amazing and ever-patient backers, I have some new entertainment here! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this somewhat unusual blog post I just finished!

Okay, exciting update first...
Tomorrow, yes, TOMORROW!FRIDAY!!- The books will set sail to venture across the ocean to our distant shores!
That's right! They are printed, pretty, and packed up on a BOAT, and should reach the port in LA on the 21st!
Storytime coming up here, with a TL;DR at the end:
Now, if you recall this part of the saga, I had found a local Wisconsin printer that I intended to use. Their larger printing jobs are done in Baltimore, but keeping business in the US was ideal. It would be a couple dollars more per book, but I figured it was worth it.... until 2022. When the files were ready to be sent, I went back to the company and due to the paper and ink shortages (and probably other things as well), the price per book had more than doubled!! There was just no way I could afford it, and had to make the choice to go with the Chicago-based printer that sends large jobs overseas. :(
BUT... related;
Once the books were printed, I was anxious to get them out to you, my ever-patient backers. So I asked how much it would be to get a few boxes from the pallet shipped ahead of time. Just shipped normally, like any package one might send, via whatever shipper is normally used.
And I was told that, for a 20 pound box holding 30 books, shipping would be.....
$500 per box.
Five HUNDRED.
For ONE box.
I choked on my coffee. That's an extra cost of nearly $17 per book. And let's be real, who has an extra $1500 laying around these days?
TL;DR- I checked out pricing to get books shipped here faster for you, and it was RIDICULOUSLY expensive! But hey, I tried.
Also, shipping times are MUCH better than they were a year ago, so that's some more good news (and who couldn't use any tidbit of good news right now)!
In that spirit... Nathan Lueth, a good friend whoseartI happen to be a huge fan of, is rolling out a new Kickstarter in a couple weeks! He does amazing work, and his latest follows a kickass paladin through three key turning points in her life- "The Canon of Vangel" is "a post-apocalyptic urban fantasy about a girl, her demon, and the end of the world". Check it out!
One last side note, all of the textile (corsets, outfits) rewards have been shipped/delivered except ONE, purchased by someone who didn't fill out the survey requesting a shipping address. You know who you are- I sent you a message.

Right off the bat, I'll end the suspense.... no, I have not received shipping notification on the books yet...
BUT!!!
I just couldn't leave you in the lurch while we are all waiting- I know you're dying for that creative, fancified, fun maker content!SO... I wrote a new blog post to whet your appetite for the hardcover feast we're all anticipating!
Additionally, since I expected (bless my sweet, naive, first-time publisher heart) the books to be here by now, I have decided that I will be shipping out the textile rewards this month. If you purchased a corset or one of the other fabric-based goodies during the Kickstarter, you can keep an eye out for that!
And the next time you hear from me, it will be with even more good news!! (Ugh, I didn't just curse myself there, did I??)

The days are getting longer, the weather is warming, and I'm checking in with an update for you!
After a couple of technical hitches, the books look set to print! Once they are hot off the presses, they'll be sent to me, where I have the shipping materials ready and waiting to send them to YOU, to make for some lovely beach or porch-time reading!
I haven't been hearing about the type of delays in shipping we were seeing last year, so I'm optimistic that they shouldn't take too long, especially once I have them in hand...
.... but GAWD the waiting is killing me!
